Walking To Lose Weight

Walking to lose weight is a sure fired way to get in shape. I have a friends who lost over 24 pounds in a year by setting a goal to walk 10 000 steps a day. She didn’t diet, just kept going according to this “formula”. She bought a step counter (also called pedometer) to keep track of her steps and just invented different ways of keeping her goals. She got off the bus one stop earlier on her way to work, walked ten minutes on her lunch break, took an extra walk around the block with the dog, and so on. She just added walking whenever she could. She didn’t really worked herself up with promising herself that she would walk 60 minutes every day for 365 day, something she realized would be a failure. Smart enough she did it like described instead, incorporated it in her daily schedule, and the results came like a letter in the mail. I recently got a step counter myself, and I love it! You get a bit competitive with yourself. It really bugs you if you don’t walk those steps you are supposed to. I write a log, and it’s bugging me if I don’t get to write down any steps that day. It’s much more fun than I thought it would ever be. This must be one the easiest way of losing weight, just adding steps to your daily schedule! And still be allowed to enjoy that Friday glass of wine and steak. And talking about food; imagine what would happen if I did my walks every day, and improved my eating habits just a bit. Even greater results! So, I can’t really imagine any more effective way of loosing your extra pounds. Walking is something almost everyone can do, it takes no expensive equipment, except comfortable shoes and clothes. Start walking and six months from now you will be a new person! With out any major sacrifices.
